It's not uncommon to see a team trade back from the number one overall selection in the NFL Draft. With a Texans win and a Bears loss in Week 17 of the 2022 season, these two bottom-dwellers traded positioning just before these picks were finalized and Chicago owns the top selection.

The monumental collapse of the Bears was outstanding for the Pittsburgh Steelers. After trading away Chase Claypool for Chicago's initial second-round pick, the Steelers will now be selecting at the very top of the second round. But when it comes to the Bears' top overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, they may be looking to trade back.

ESPN reporter Adam Schefter recently reported that the Bears have already been approached by multiple teams about trading out of the pick, and Chicago is said to be "leaning toward" doing so.

Some have argued that the Bears should stand pat and take Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and trade away Justin Fields, but it seems far too premature to give up on Fields when his supporting cast has been so bad. If Chicago does indeed decide to trade away the top pick, what does that mean for the Steelers?

Steelers won't be involved in potential draft trade with Bears

There are a number of desperate NFL teams who are apparently willing to move up for a quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft, but the Pittsburgh Steelers will not be one of them. In his final season as general manager, Kevin Colbert made one last splash by selecting Pitt QB Kenny Pickett with the 20th overall selection.

While Pickett isn't guaranteed to turn into a long-term franchise quarterback, the Steelers certainly aren't going to take one in the first round just one year later -- especially considering the success Pittsburgh found down the stretch.

The only time a team should be willing to trade multiple future first-round picks to move to the top of the draft is to select a quarterback, so this certainly rules out the Steelers. The next question becomes: who is making this trade with the Bears and how does it affect who will be available for Pittsburgh?

These are some questions that are impossible to figure out at the moment. However, it's reasonable to think that if a team is willing to make this move, the NFL really likes the quarterback class this year. Perhaps as many as four signal-callers could be selected before Pittsburgh is on the clock with the 17th overall selection.

This would be ideal for a team that is going to have no interest in taking a quarterback this year anyway. The Pittsburgh Steelers will have no interest trading with the Bears to move to the top pick, but throwing a monkey wrench in the draft has the potential to shake things up a bit.
