Every move the Pittsburgh Steelers made since the 2022 season ended has all been leading up to this point. During free agency, Omar Khan patched some glaring holes with numerous signings -- giving his team the flexibility to go in multiple directions early in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Now the draft is finally here, and with three selections inside the top 50 picks, the Steelers will have a chance to build the foundation of their new-look team led by quarterback, Kenny Pickett. With a strong draft, Pittsburgh can assert themselves as playoff contenders once more.
We are going to track every selection the Pittsburgh Steelers make during this three-day stretch. Here's everything you need to know.
How many picks are in the 2023 NFL Draft?
The 2023 NFL Draft will have seven rounds and will include a grand total of 259 picks. There will be 10 compensatory picks to close out the draft, with the Texans set to make the final selection with pick 259 overall. This player will be dubbed as 'Mr. Irrelevant.'
What are undrafted free agents and when can they be signed?
An undrafted free agent is any player who is not selected during the course of the three-day draft period. In this case, any player who isn't taken with one of the 259 picks this year will immediately become an undrafted free agent (UDFA). These players are eligible to sign with teams the minute the draft concludes. Some teams offer UDFAs larger signing bonuses and more guaranteed money than others are willing to give out.
