The Pittsburgh Steelers are in an era of transition. This will be the first offseason with Kenny Pickett firmly entrenched as the starting quarterback. The inside linebacker position group has been given a complete makeover, and the secondary will feature several new faces.

But perhaps most importantly, this is Omar Khan’s first full offseason as the general manager. Kevin Colbert announced his retirement last offseason but stayed on until the draft was complete. Khan, and his partner Andy Weidl, certainly played a role last year, but now they are on their own.

Khan and Weidl face a daunting task. They need to find immediate starters at a few positions, round out the depth at others, and start planning for the future at some more. Luckily, they have three picks in the top 50, thanks to the Chase Claypool trade. But they still need late-round picks and only have the standard seven selections. Therefore, a trade back is likely, given the lack of depth at multiple positions. But the Steelers have also been more aggressive with trades in recent years.

In short, pretty much anything and everything is on the table for Pittsburgh in the 2023 NFL Draft. So let’s dive into this mock draft, the first of what should be many in the coming weeks.
