Pittsburgh Steelers 2024 opponents: A look at every matchup next season
By Tommy Jaggi
The Pittsburgh Steelers will have their work cut out for them during the 2024 offseason. Their 2023 campaign resulted in a playoff berth, but there's still work to be done and plenty of roster holes that will need to be addressed ahead of next season.
As the sun sets on the 2023 season, a new year ushers in. NFL teams who didn't make it to the playoffs will explore every avenue to improve their roster over the coming months in an attempt to build a championship-caliber team.
Every NFL team has been made aware of the opponents that they will be facing next season. Here's a look at every Pittsburgh Steelers opponent for 2024.
Steelers 2024 home opponents:
- Baltimore Ravens
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Cleveland Browns
- Dallas Cowboys
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Los Angeles Chargers
- New York Giants
- New York Jets
Steelers 2024 away opponents:
- Baltimore Ravens
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Cleveland Browns
- Atlanta Falcons
- Denver Broncos
- Indianapolis Colts
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Philadelphia Eagles
- Washington Commanders
Because of the NFL's relatively new 17-game schedule that began in 2021, no team can currently have an even balance of home and away games. Unfortunately for the Pittsburgh Steelers, they will have one fewer home game and one additional road game than they had this past season. It also sounds like one of their 'home' games could be an international game this year.
The AFC North proved to have the best record in the NFL during the 2023 season. For the first time since 1935, every team in the division finished with a winning record. These matchups against the Ravens, Browns, and Bengals would be challenging in 2024 -- especially with Joe Burrow coming back for Cincinnati. It might be unreasonable to expect them to go 5-1 in the division again next year.
Apart from their divisional games, Pittsburgh has a fun and historic matchup against a talented Dallas Cowboys team at home. As well, they will be staying in state and traveling to Philadelphia to face the Eagles this year. The Steelers could also be facing Aaron Rodgers at home as he returns for from an Achilles injury and is expected to lead the New York Jets.
In addition to playing a pair of games against each AFC North opponent, two other NFL divisions the Steelers will face this year are the AFC West (Chiefs, Chargers, Raiders, and Broncos) and the NFC East (Cowboys, Eagles, Commanders, and Giants).
Pittsburgh's two additional games in their 17-game schedule are decided by the final 2023 standings and include one AFC and one NFC opponent. These will be against the Indianapolis Colts and the Atlanta Falcons.
