Pittsburgh Steelers announce the themes of select home games in 2023

Even those high school seemed like a lifetime ago for many of us, we can remember school spirit week like it was yesterday. Student council would decide on some bizarre themes and dress codes for one week of the year to help get their school motivated for sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers love team spirit just as much as the next organization, and home game themes are part of the plan again in 2023.

On July 12th, the official Pittsburgh Steelers Twitter account announced their official themes for select home games in the upcoming NFL season. Here is the theme for each game that will be played in Pittsburgh at Acrisure Stadium this year:

Pittsburgh Steelers 2023 Game Themes:

• Preseason Week 2: Family Day (vs Bills, Aug. 19th, 6:30 p.m. ET)
• Week 5: Crucial Catch (vs Ravens, Oct. 8th, 1:00 p.m. ET)
• Week 8: Hall of Honor (vs Jaguars, Oct. 29th, 1:00 p.m. ET)
• Week 9: Salute to Service (vs Titans, Nov. 2nd, 8:15 p.m. ET)
• Week 10: Alumni Weekend (vs Packers, Nov. 12th, 1:00 p.m. ET)
• Week 13: My Cause My Cleats (vs Cardinals, Dec. 3rd, 1:00 p.m. ET)
• Week 16: Thank You Fans (vs Bengals, Dec. 23rd, 4:30 p.m. ET)

Though some of these themes are self-explanatory, the Steelers have not yet released descriptions of each theme or what fans attending the game should do. There are only six theme games during the regular season and one during the preseason -- all of which will obviously take place in Pittsburgh on the day of a game.

For those who are looking to catch a game in good weather with a more relaxed environment, Family Day would be a good one to attend. While this is a preseason game, there are sure to be games geared toward kids, and ticket costs will be cheaper than a regular-season game.

The Hall of Honor theme will highlight the recently added Hall of Honor Museum at Acrisure Stadium, while the Salute to Service in Week 9 is a way of honoring the military and those who serve our country in the armed forces.

Alumni Weekend will honor many former Steelers players and coaches, while Week 16 will be a time for the Pittsburgh Steelers to thank the fans as they play their final home game of 2023 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
