Steelers free agent departures:

Many believe the Steelers did plenty to fill some of their biggest roster holes over the first two days of free agency. However, one loss, in particular, stings a bit. Here are the players officially departing from Pittsburgh so far.

Cameron Sutton, cornerback

Cameron Sutton's decision to sign a three-year, $33 million deal with the Detroit Lions was impossible to pass up. Some thought the Steelers may try to match this, but they obviously couldn't come to terms on a new deal.

Pittsburgh did at least cover their bases with the Peterson signing, but they got older and less versatile in the process. Sutton was coming off his best year as he excelled both on the outside and in the slot in 2022.

Robert Spillane, linebacker

Steelers went above and beyond at the linebacker position going from Robert Spillane to Cole Holcomb. However, they are going to miss a steady tackler and sound special teams player. Spillane signed a two-year, $9 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. If used in the right role, he could prove to be a solid addition to his new team. For the Steelers, however, they couldn't afford to pay him that much knowing that they were in need of a serious upgrade at the position.
