The Steelers have a long and storied history, that's for sure. Countless players have donned the black and gold, some good, some not so good, and some flat-out great. While some of these great players found their way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, some did not, but that is a discussion for another time.

I wrote an article about the jersey numbers that are "unofficially" retired and will probably never be worn again and rightfully so. While I was writing that article, I thought about those great players whose numbers are still in circulation, but should not be, in my opinion. As we progress through this discussion, I think you will see my rationale for each case.

Let's take a look at the jersey numbers on the offensive side of the ball that should be unofficially retired.
