5 Steelers who need to step up in Week 2
By Ryan Heckman
4. Patrick Peterson, CB
Prior to Week 1, newly-signed cornerback Patrick Peterson did a bit of talking. Leading up to the game, Peterson had this to say:
"There is some tell signs out there that tells us what plays we're gonna get from those guys in certain situations. When I get my pick Sunday, we'll talk about it."
Not only did Peterson not generate an interception against Brock Purdy, but he also gave up two touchdowns. To be somewhat fair, one of those touchdowns came due to Peterson slipping. However, the two touchdowns were credited to being given up by the man who did all the talking, in the end.
Peterson has to bounce back in Week 2 and play much better against a Cleveland offense that boasts some underrated weapons in Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore and David Njoku.
Obviously, the entire Steelers secondary needs to be better as we've already mentioned Wallace. But, Peterson is right there, too. He came to Pittsburgh as a guy who thought he still had plenty left in the tank, showed he was still a competitive trash talker, and put up an overall mediocre Week 1 performance. That cannot continue against the Browns next week.
