3. Scottie Montgomery, Running Backs/Associate Head Coach, Detroit Lions

Staying in the NFC North, let's look at another staff that could see a couple of names plucked out of their current roles and promoted elsewhere. The Detroit Lions are one of the best teams in football, largely in part to their offensive prowess.

Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is absolutely going to be a head coach in 2024, so you can guarantee that spot will be up for grabs. A candidate to replace Johnson's role in Detroit should end up being running backs coach and associate head coach Scottie Montgomery.

Montgomery is a former NFL running back and got his coaching start back where he played his college ball at Duke University. He's only had a couple of years in the NFL as a coach, starting in Indianapolis back in 2021. But, in his role with Detroit, you have to give him some credit for the way their offense rolls.

Detroit is currently the no. 5 rushing team in the league, and whether it's been David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs or even others, the Lions have been consistent on the ground this season. Montgomery is an example of a coach who could come in and help the Steelers gain a grip on being a tough, physical and run-first team.

Between scheme and some of the charisma from Dan Campbell possibly rubbing off, Montgomery is an interesting candidate.
