Which of their own key free agents will the Steelers allow to leave?

Levi Wallace, CB

Transitioning to another cornerback who absolutely doesn't deserve to be brought back, it's Levi Wallace. Steelers fans know the name well. Somehow, he kept Joey Porter Jr. on the sideline a whole lot longer than he should have been, as a rookie.

Wallace was horrendous in 2023, and even as a depth piece, I don't think Steelers Nation wants this guy back. Hopefully, his time in Pittsburgh is done.

Markus Golden, LB

The Steelers have a lot of free-agent linebackers. In fact, their four starters are all under contract. But, there are a total of four backups set to hit free agency. Markus Golden is one of the more notable guys. And, this is a spot the Steelers could certainly find in a later draft pick or even an undrafted free agent. Last year, Golden played just 22 percent of snaps. While he played well, when he was on the field, the Steelers can find a replacement.

Kwon Alexander, LB

Kwon Alexander played a bit more than Golden, on the field for 56 percent of defensive snaps. But, at this stage in his career, the game looks to have passed him by in one key area: defending the run. He's been good in coverage for the majority of his career, but for now, the Steelers need to find a reserve who is more capable of playing against the run. He was abysmal in 2023, and because of that, the Steelers should let him go.
