The Steelers reputation may be tarnished by moving on from Mike Tomlin

While this may not necessarily be the case if we decide to move on, I believe it would be the case.  The Steelers organization, particularly Art Rooney, is well respected among the owners in the NFL.  Mike Tomlin is well respected among his peers and is known as a ‘players coach’.

That moniker could be detrimental at times, but, by and large, I think our players want to play for Tomlin and I think players from other teams would want to play for Tomlin given the opportunity.  The last thing we want is for the organization to get that reputation that we do not stand behind our players or our coaches.

Look, I realize that all good things must come to an end at some point, but I would argue that Mike Tomlin’s end should come at his discretion, assuming we are still winning and winning is a relative term.  As I stated, I am not happy with the fact that we have not won a Super Bowl since the 2008 season.

Do changes need to be made to the coaching staff?  Absolutely.  Do changes need to be made to the roster?  Absolutely.  Do changes need to be made regarding who has the final say on draft day?  Absolutely.  Do I believe that Mike Tomlin is a great ‘tactician’? No, but I do believe that with the right group of coaches and players, we can get back to and win another Lombardi Trophy with Mike Tomlin as our Head Coach.
