Russell Wison could be an interesting target for the Steelers in Free Agency

Capping off the article here with a bigger name that could become a realistic option for the Steelers. Russell Wilson is technically still a member of the Denver Broncos upon writing this article, but the writing is on the wall for his release. Both sides seem eager to mutually part ways, and that would make Wilson available to sign anywhere in the NFL.

Pittsburgh becomes a popular landing spot for Wilson as soon as he becomes a free agent. The veteran quarterback had a great career in Seattle before he was traded to the Broncos for a haul of picks and other assets. No one should forget the massive contract extension that he signed when he went to Denver. That could play a big part in his landing with the black and gold.

We know that Wilson is not afraid of playing in harsh climates like Pittsburgh poses. He played both in Denver and Seattle, which are not all sunny and warm days. Some fans will hate the idea of adding Wilson as it could provide another ego entering the locker room. A signing of this magnitude would also tell everyone that Pickett will not be the starter this season.

If Wilson were signed, then he would become the starter for the Steelers in 2024 and potentially beyond. The main thing with this quarterback option will be how much of a demand he could ask for on the open market. He is coming towards the end of his career, and it seems like he might want to sign with a contender. The Steelers are probably his best fit, but Pittsburgh can only commit to him at a reasonable contract for an aging quarterback coming off a couple of bad seasons in Denver.
