4. Steelers could target Logan Ryan

If age isn't a factor (and the Steelers clearly showed that it isn't with the Patrick Peterson signing), Logan Ryan is a name that makes a lot of sense. Ryan is a former cornerback who has extensive experience covering the slot. However, he made the switch to safety back in 2020.

After losing Cameron Sutton in free agency, Ryan is a player who can offer snaps from the slot and would still be an upgrade over Arthur Maulet in nickel. However, the veteran defensive back isn't pigeonholed to playing one role.

Ryan has played both free safety and strong safety over the past three years with seven years of experience at cornerback prior to that. He's familiar with just about every position in the secondary, and he would offer great insurance in the event of an injury to Damontae Kazee, as these two players overlap in most of their skills.

Ryan was also a terrific run defender last season, and we know how much Mike Tomlin values this trait. Now 32 years old, Ryan won't unseat Kazee as the starting safety opposite of Minkah Fitzpatrick, but he's a significant upgrade over backup Tre Norwood with loads of experience.
