The first day of Steelers OTAs is in the books. Pittsburgh's media dropped videos of players working out and running through drills during Day 1 of Organized Team Activities. No position was more focused on than quarterback.

The biggest storyline of the offseason has been the drastic changes at the quarterback position. Kenny Pickett is out and he has been replaced by Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

Recently, Wilson spoke to the media and fielded questions regarding Cameron Heyward's absence and his QB competition with Fields. He also spoke on Pittsburgh's young group of wide receivers, and Wilson couldn't find enough kind things to say.

"Guys like Roman Wilson, who just got here. He's working his butt off learning. Guys obviously like Calvin Austin, as I mentioned earlier. He's working his tail off leading the way every day at the front of the line. Guys like GP [George Pickens] who's so incredibly talented but he's only early in his career. He's going to have so much opportunity and it's going to be a great thing for him.

I love the receiver room. I love the guys that we have. We're gonna be able to compete with those guys and hopefully win a lot of games with the guys that we have."

Wilson gushed over players like Roman Wilson, Calvin Austin III, and George Pickens -- stating his love for the group of wide receivers the team currently possesses.

Russell Wilson is thrilled with young Steelers WR room

Earlier in his conversation with the media, Wilson shared his pleasure for the group of Steelers wide receivers. Interestingly, he mentioned Calvin Austin twice by name in his presser. Wilson said that Austin has been 'working his tail off' and 'leading the way every day.'

The Steelers have been involved in trade rumors even before moving Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers for CB Donte Jackson. Wilson is clearly pleased with the early performance of his young wide receiver room, and he assured the media that Pickens is going to have 'so much opportunity' in 2024.

After a trio of free agent signing at the wide receiver position and the decision to select Roman Wilson in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Omar Khan seems to be content to roll with what they have at the position for now.

Russell Wilson is convinced that their current wide receiver room will be more than enough, and he's excited about what this young group will offer the Pittsburgh Steelers this year.
