Steelers mock draft round 3: Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, C, Georgia

Now that the Steelers moved back from their second third-round selection through the trade with the Texans, they need to be careful. Evaluating where they are and what kind of needs have to be addressed moving forward is a must. Center remains the biggest hole on the roster at this point in the mock draft. The Steelers are no fools, and they luck out here.

Sedrick Van Pran-Granger remains on the board at their third-round selection, and they run to the podium with their pick. He is a plug-and-play center on day one. Ideally, the Steelers will find a way to provide some sort of competition for him. Right now, they only have Nate Herbig on the roster who can handle starting snaps at center.

Maybe someone like Spencer Anderson can try and battle for that spot too. He had a lot of snaps all over the offensive line in college, and that is what made him a late-round pick for the Steelers in last year's draft. Van Pran-Granger in the midpoint of the third round is quality value, and it is another member of the Georgia program moving to the Steelers facility.

That would mean Jones, Mims, and Van Pran-Granger will become the majority of Pittsburgh's offensive line. They shouldn't take too long to gel together after playing together in college. It would be something that many around the NFL have not seen before. The Steelers conclude their second day of the draft by finally providing the fans with a sigh of relief by adding a center.
