Steelers mock draft round 4: Michael Hall Jr., DT, Ohio State

It takes until the last day of the draft for the Steelers to finally go against selecting a Georgia player. They could have easily selected Tykee Smith, but they have other needs to focus on now. The defensive line is a spot that has been neglected a lot this offseason. The team needs to add some youth to the trenches on both sides of the ball.

They take Michael Hall Jr. out of Ohio State with their first fourth-round selection resulting from the earlier trade. They need a player who could develop into a starter or at least a quality role player in the trenches for them moving forward. It seems like the future of the defensive line could become a weak point for Pittsburgh this year.

Cam Heyward isn't getting any younger and no one should expect him to come back at 100%. He will likely be a quality player, but age will be a factor. Larry Ogunjobi will hopefully bounce back, but he has struggled against the run. Keeanu Benton has to grow from his rookie year, and that will be a key factor for this defensive line moving forward.

Hall got a lot of attention from Tomlin during the Senior Bowl, and this prospect had a quality outing. The black and gold didn't send their top brass to the Ohio State pro day, but that won't rule out day three prospects. Hall is an athletic defensive lineman who has to fine-tune his skills at the next level. A good developmental athlete that the Steelers always search for in the draft.
