It took some outside help from the Tennessee Titans, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are officially in the playoffs. Mike Tomlin's team took care of business against the Ravens in their Week 18 season finale and ultimately earned a playoff berth following the results around the league on the final day of the 2023 regular season.

With a Jaguars loss and a Bills win in Week 18, the NFL playoff picture got a big shake-up as the regular season closed, and Pittsburgh was the beneficiary. The Steelers have now been awarded the chance to win their first playoff game in six years.

It took a crazy series of events to get to this point. After losing three straight games against the Cardinals, Patriots, and Colts to begin the month of December, Pittsburgh rallied back with a big home win against the Bengals, followed by two straight road victories to close out the season. This got them within striking distance of the playoffs, and Titans head coach (and former Steelers linebacker) Mike Vrabel took care of the rest.

There were plenty of things that went wrong for Tomlin's team this year, and the Steelers deserve to be criticized for their ugly performances at times, but it's all about entering the tournament, and Pittsburgh was able to find a way to make it happen. Here's everything you need to know about the Pittsburgh Steelers 2024 playoff schedule.

What seed are the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs?

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be the No. 7 seed in the AFC. There was a chance that Pittsburgh could have jumped into the No. 6 seed had the Dolphins been able to defeat the Bills in Miami on Sunday Night Football. This would have changed their Wild Card matchup and they could have been playing against the Chiefs in Kansas City in the Wild Card round.

With the results of Week 18 finalized and the Bills emerging victorious on the road in Miami to claim the AFC East crown, the Steelers are officially the No. 7 seed in the AFC playoffs.

Who will the Steelers play in the playoffs?

After the dust settled on what proved to be a wild Week 18 of the 2023 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be playing the Buffalo Bills on the road. This is a team that is catching fire at the right time. The Bills have won 6 of their last 7 games -- including 5 straight wins to close out the season.

The last time the Steelers and Bills faced each other game in Week 5 of 2022 when Buffalo trounced Pittsburgh in a 38-3 blowout. This was Kenny Pickett's first NFL start and T.J. Watt was unavailable for this contest as he was on IR with a pectoral injury.

If the Steelers defeat the Bills in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs and advance to the Divisional Round, they will be on the road in Baltimore. The Ravens are the No. 1 seed in the AFC after showcasing their dominance down the stretch. Interestingly, the Steelers found a way to beat the Ravens in a bizarre contest the first time around back in Week 5.
