Steelers' Brandon Aiyuk dreams one step closer to reality after latest rumblings
By Tommy Jaggi
The Pittsburgh Steelers are nearing the finish line of the Brandon Aiyuk trade saga. After toying with our emotions for months, trade rumors and 'reports' came on strong on August 5, and the energy hasn't died down to this point.
On August 7, Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan posted that sources told him the Steelers have reached a verbal agreement with the 49ers in a trade for Aiyuk.
Fillipponi insists that the terms and details of the contract are being ironed out as we speak. 'Ricky', who has a following of over 51,000 on X, has been doubling down on the Steelers-49ers trade since the beginning, and it looks like something is finally in the works.
This comes after it was announced that the Patriots dropped out of the running. If Fillipponi's source is correct, we are just a pen and paper away from Aiyuk booking a one-way trip to Pittsburgh.
All the breadcrumbs have led us to this point and the Steelers have been the team most frequently linked to the star receiver from the start.
Steelers could pull off the blockbuster trade of the year with Brandon Aiyuk
From the latest rumors, it sounds like a Steelers trade for Brandon Aiyuk is almost a done deal. Now it's just about finalizing the contract language. The biggest question becomes: what was Omar Khan forced to give up in all of this?
After it was reported that the 49ers turned down a first-round pick back in May, the asking price to finalize this deal is expected to have gone down. Some whispers out there suggest the Steelers can execute this trade by giving up a second-round pick in 2025 in addition to a veteran player (like offensive guard James Daniels).
Considering where this all started, this compensation would be the best-case scenario for Pittsburgh. The Steelers would get to hold onto their first-round pick next April while landing a blue-chip player who would instantly give the offense a boost.
At the rate new information is being 'leaked', a Brandon Aiyuk trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers could become official soon. Stay tuned!
