Week 5 on the NFL schedule brings some unique matchups that could pose as some playoff previews. There are a couple of teams that have emerged as bottom-of-the-barrel types while others are starting to become Super Bowl contenders early into the season. There is a long way to go, but plenty of teams are starting to take shape in the standings.

2023 season prediction record after week 4: 32-16

It was an eventful and overall successful week in terms of predicting week four of the NFL in this series. We got out of last week with a record an overwhelmingly positive record after only predicting three games incorrectly. That has allowed the overall predictions record for this year to bounce to new heights and a positive outlook on what is to come.

Chicago Bears (0-4) vs Washington Commanders (2-2), Thursday at 8:15 P.M. EST

Prediction: Commanders 24, Bears 20

The Washington Commanders are one of the best surprises of the year thus far. They pushed the Philadelphia Eagles to their limit last week and almost came away with a win. They have been able to produce points at a consistent rate this season and that trend should continue here. The Bears are in a world of hurt and it seems like everything finished crumbling down after the loss last week.

Blowing a substantial lead and giving up 31 unanswered points will derail Chicago's already helpless season. They should be able to compete with the Commanders, and that should lead to a close result. The final score will be close but expect Washington to take care of the Bears without too many issues unless Sam Howell falls apart.
