Trying to gauge what every NFL team will do in the first round is nearly impossible, but we are reaching the end of the mock draft season. The Steelers hold pick 17 in the first round of the draft, but they have an exciting second day of the weekend. They hold two selections in the second round and their original pick in the third round of the upcoming draft.

Lots of trade speculation has started to run rampant around town, and Omar Khan keeps giving everyone reason to believe it. He has not been afraid to pull the trigger on trades throughout his young tender as the general manager of this football team. He just completed a deal to acquire Allen Robinson, but he still might make some moves when the draft starts.

Center could be an interesting option for the Steelers on day two

One position that could gain some traction over the next week or so leading up to the draft is the center position on the offensive line. John Michael Schmitz is the top prospect at that spot for this draft class and that is the consensus opinion among evaluators. This Minnesota product visited Pittsburgh with one of their 30 pre-draft visits.

Not being present for his pro day could be a red flag for this prospect, but he would be a great selection to kick off the second night of the draft, if he is still available. He should be in consideration there even though Mason Cole will be the starting center this season. Schmitz would be brought in to provide tremendous interior offensive line depth and wait a year before becoming the starting center for this front.
