Steelers Draft Grades Round 3:

Round 3 – Tight End – Darnell Washington – 6’-7”, 264 lbs.

Getting Washington in the late 3rd Rd is the steal of the 2023 NFL Draft. The ‘Stealers’ are getting an extra offensive tackle/pulling guard who catches passes to boot. Washington is fleet of foot with a 4.64 forty. He also runs good routes and has good hands. He uses his massive frame to box out defenders.

Washington is a freakish athlete who will cause match-up nightmares. With the addition of Broderick Jones and Isaac Seumalo, the Steelers should go from one of the worst O-Lines to one of the best. With Washington, they will be able to overload one side of the line. They can use him to pull and trap. This is another player who will allow the run game to have whole new dimensions.

He will also greatly improve the passing game. Pat Friermuth and Washington will give the Steelers one of the best TE combos in the league. Najee Harris is going to love this guy.

This is Step Three of the Steelers Great Trench Repair.
