Steelers Final Mock Offseason: Pittsburgh stays busy with massive moves in 2024
Steelers mock draft round 7: Kimani Vidal, RB, Troy
With the fact that Smith likes his offense to remain efficient based on the success of the run game, we know the Steelers need depth there. Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren are a great duo, but it is hard to imagine that they will always be healthy for an entire season. Bringing in a quality third option should be something the Steelers investigate.
Pittsburgh decided not to sign a running back in free agency and opted for the draft. They have been scouting this class closely during the pre-draft process. It is not out of the realm of possibility that the black and gold could invest a higher pick in the draft on a running back when it is all said and done. This mock offseason landed this way, and they still get a productive back.
With their last pick in the mock draft, the Steelers take Kimani Vidal out of Troy. He is a short back, but his college career was very productive. Most of his production came on the ground where he totaled over 1,600 rushing yards in his final season as a Trojan. He started to show more as a pass catcher, but that progress will have to continue at the next level.
Adding Vidal behind Harris and Warren provides another option that has a ton of production at the college level. Troy doesn't play the highest level of competition each week, but Vidal found was to be consistent each game. He will also need to find ways of contributing on special teams if he wishes to stick on the roster.
