Steelers mock draft round 2: Khyree Jackson, CB, Oregon

Murphy-Bunting was signed earlier this offseason to start opposite of Porter. We know that he can handle the starting snaps, but signing him to a two-year deal doesn't mean he will be around forever. Pittsburgh decides to invest in a cornerback early. They like what they saw from the size and athletic ability that Khyree Jackson has displayed throughout the pre-draft process.

It's a good corner class in general, and the black and gold want to take advantage of that. They get Jackson here to not only develop into a starting outside corner option but to compete for the starting job. Cornerback has become one of the most important positions in football so signing a perceived starter in free agency shouldn't be the only course of action.

One of the biggest concerns with Jackson is his lack of production beyond this past season in college. He went the junior college route and went from Alabama to Oregon. It took him a while to get a starting job at a top college program. Last season was the time when he finally got that starting role he was searching for.

He is a hard worker and got himself into some top programs from JUCO. Jackson has a lot of great skill sets that should be able to transfer over to the NFL. He is raw and needs to continue to improve his game at the next level with proper coaching. He could be a steal with the size and ability that he possesses. He is currently rising draft boards.
