As the NFL heads into the second week of free agency, the Pittsburgh Steelers have made a handful of moves to hopefully better their roster. The interior of their offensive line has improved, they added a veteran cornerback, and they added some options at linebacker. While the majority of the huge moves are done, there is still work to be done.

This week, the Steelers should focus on filling out the remaining needs with less expensive free agents as the focus shifts to the draft. This roster is far from a complete unit, and more talent is needed. For this list, I’m not looking at potential re-signings, as I still believe either Zach Gentry or Terrell Edmunds should be a priority for this team.

That all said, here are five free agents the Steelers need to target during this second wave.

Steelers could add Maxx Williams at tight end

While I’m still in favor of signing the aforementioned Gentry, if he doesn’t come back, this team will need another veteran body at tight end. Maxx Williams never became the elite tight end many wanted him to be, but he has sometimes flashed some talent during his stints with the Ravens and Cardinals.

He has struggled with injuries and is coming off his worst season as a pro. That said, Williams is a classic do-it-all tight end that can block when needed and catch passes. He is still surprisingly young as well, and even though his days as a potential weapon are over, he can be a stabilizing force at tight end in case of injury. He can provide all of that at a steep discount, so this pairing makes sense.
