Steelers could find stability in Jamison Crowder

Jamison Crowder is everything I want in a veteran slot receiver this off-season. He is a proven and dependable player that can become a very capable possession receiver for this team. He isn’t explosive nor will he wow you with amazing catches, but if ignored he can slice defenses up with consistent catches and the ability to move the chains.

Crowder was in a good place with the Bills last season before a broken ankle ended his season. Because of this, he would be a budget player slot into the lineup. He wouldn’t prevent the Steelers from getting Calvin Austin involved in the slot either, but he would be a contingency plan if Austin wasn’t the best fit.

Assuming his ankle has healed, there is little reason to think that Crowder can’t still be effective. While older, his game was never built on speed, so he shouldn’t be set to regress there. He isn’t an elite player, but he is a safe one and would come at an affordable price tag. Giving this offense another dependable target would certainly go a long way.
