If Pittsburgh Steelers fans were upset with Broderick Jones this summer, there's a whole new reason to have a beef with the offensive tackle.

After getting benched for rookie OT Troy Fautanu, the Steelers decided to rotate Jones onto the field at the right tackle position. Shortly after he entered the game, Jones was called for a false start. But that wasn't the half of it.

With the Steelers backed up against their own end zone, quarterback Justin Fields was able to give them some breathing room. That's when the Steelers' QB pulled out the throw of the year.

Rolling to his right, Fields delivered a 50-yard dart on a rope to wide receiver George Pickens. The play would have had the Steelers well inside the red zone on the cusp of another touchdown drive. Unfortunately, the play of the game was negated by a holding call from Broderick.

Steelers can't trust Broderick Jones

For a player trying to give the Steelers a reason to put him on the field, Jones isn't doing himself any favors. The 2023 first-round pick was projected to play a pivotal role for Pittsburgh in his second season.

Instead, Jones began Week 2 on the bench -- forced to watch underwhelming veteran Dan Moore Jr. play left tackle (the position he played all through high school and college), and Fautanu take his previous spot at right tackle.

Jones had a disastrous preseason in 2024. He was humiliated against Greg Rousseau and the Buffalo Bills, and he hasn't done anything to redeem himself so far.

If Broderick Jones gets another chance to leave his mark, it better be significantly better than everything we've seen from him so far in 2024. This has been a nightmare, and wiping away the best play of the game for the Steelers in Week 2 is just another reason to be furious with Jones.
