Steelers make rookie jersey numbers official for 2024 draft picks
By Tommy Jaggi
The Pittsburgh Steelers rookie jersey numbers are in. According to Teresa Varley of Steelers.com, jersey numbers for all seven 2024 draft picks have been revealed ahead of the team's rookie minicamp this week.
Troy Fautanu and Zach Frazier have jersey numbers that have been confirmed for the 2024 season. The other numbers chosen for minicamp by the five other Steelers draft picks have not been confirmed for the 2024 season and are subject to change.
Here's a look at the numbers each Steelers rookie draft pick will be wearing during rookie minicamp.
Steelers 2024 rookie jersey numbers:
- No. 76: Troy Fautanu (Round 1)
- No. 54: Zach Frazier (Round 2)
- No. 10: Roman Wilson (Round 3)
- No. 41: Payton Wilson (Round 3)
- No. 66: Mason McCormick (Round 4)
- No. 74: Logan Lee (Round 6)
- No. 29: Ryan Watts (Round 6)
Because the jersey numbers for first-round pick Troy Fautanu (No. 76) and Zach Frazier (No. 54) have been confirmed by the team, these numbers are safe for fans to purchase without worrying about these rookies switching numbers before the season.
If you are planning on purchasing a jersey from a player not drafted with the first two picks (like WR Roman Wilson or LB Payton Wilson), you might want to wait until their numbers are confirmed by the team before the start of the season.
The Steelers are putting the finishing touches on their 90-man summer roster, but this roster will be cut down to just 53 players by the start of the season. Roughly 40 percent of currently-used jersey numbers will become available, and rookie draft picks will have the opportunity to switch their number before the start of the 2024 season.
Fautanu's No. 76 most recently belonged to former OT Chukwuma Okorafor, while Kwon Alexander wore No. 54 -- the number that Zach Frazier will be wearing during the 2024 season. The 2024 Steelers rookie class will have a chance to write their own story and make their jerseys their own.
