Steelers mock draft round 4 (via LAR): Hudson Clark, S, Arkansas

From the fiasco we witnessed in the secondary all season, drafting one defensive back this April probably won't be enough. Like offensive tackle, the secondary could be addressed as early as the first round, based on need.

After solidifying the nickel cornerback position late in Day 2, I have the Pittsburgh Steelers going with a safety with their pick acquired from the Los Angeles Rams in the Kevin Dotson trade. Hudson Clark is a bit on the lean side for a safety, but he has a great feel for the game and ample experience in the SEC.

Throughout his career with the Arkansas Razorbacks, Clark compiled 187 tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss, 5 interceptions, and 19 passes defended, according to Sports Reference. In addition to his quality on-field production, Clark flashes on tape.

Outside of Minkah Fitzpatrick (who was often injured in 2023), the Steelers have almost no youth or upside at the safety position and are in desperate need of competition. Hudson Clark could begin his career as a special teams player and dime defender before carving out a bigger role on defense.
