Steelers mock draft round 6: Nazir Stackhouse, DT, Georgia
He's a nose tackle with 'stack' and 'house' in his last name. What more is there to discuss? In all seriousness, the Pittsburgh Steelers could certainly benefit from a player like Nazir Stackhouse. The George DT is a run-stuffing menace that this team has been missing.
At 6'3'' and 320 pounds, Stackhouse has a stout frame and can swallow up blockers -- allowing linebackers to make plays on the football. Though he's not much of a sack artist (just 3.0 sacks in 4 seasons), his ability to clog running lanes is his niche.
Over the past few years, the Steelers have been playing some of their defensive linemen out of position -- trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, if you will. Players like Montravius Adams and Keeanu Benton are not true nose tackles, and Benton would benefit from the ability to be more flexible up and down the defensive line.
The addition of a true nose tackle like Nazir Stackhouse would give the Steelers a player they can count on to defend the run in base and goal line packages. They haven't had a player like this on their roster in quite some time.
