Steelers mock draft round 4: WR Parker Washington
I know; I did it again. Yes, I have players being selected from the same school in back-to-back picks, but for good reason. Just like Ji'Ayir Brown is a good fit at the safety position for the Steelers, so is Parker Washington at the wide receiver position.
Washington is a player the Steelers have probably had their eyes on over the past few seasons. In 2021, he earned 820 yards and 4 touchdowns. Last year, his production came down a bit as he played in three fewer games.
The Penn State product did most of his damage from the slot during his college career, but might have some inside-out versitility at the next level in the event of an injury to Diontae Johnson. Though Washington doesn't have any defining traits, he's a very reliable recevier who runs good routes and does a lot of things well.
It was a little disappointing to see him measure in at 5/9 5/8'' at the NFL Combine, and the lack of athletic testing during the pre-draft process is a little concerning. However, this could fall him to slip a bit and Washington would be a solid selection in the fourth round for a team that still needs more wide receiver depth.
