Steelers Mock Draft: Pittsburgh ends their issues in the trenches in 2024

Steelers mock draft round 7: Lathan Ransom, S, Ohio State
I already have Pittsburgh taking a pair of cornerbacks earlier in my seven-round Steelers mock draft. Now I have them addressing the safety position. Outside of Minkah Fitzpatrick -- who continues to be a stable presence in the secondary -- the Steelers don't seem to have a safety on the roster who will be part of the long-term plan.
Damontae Kazee has been respectable in his role this season, but fellow safety Keanu Neal has really struggled when it comes to sticking with receivers in the passing game. This is an old pairing, and both of these players aren't guaranteed to be here when the Steelers enter the 2024 NFL Draft.
There's no doubt they could use an upgrade at the position. Though they certainly aren't guaranteed to find that in the seventh round next April, I have them going with Ohio State safety, Lathan Ransom. Ransom is a three-year starter for the Buckeyes who possesses quality size for the position (6'1'', 200 lbs.).
At this stage in the draft, the Steelers just hoping to find a player who can stick around and possibly earn a roster spot. Because of the weakness at the safety position, Ransom might be able to do just that. The competition is slim after Minkah, and he would at least offer youth to a position that is otherwise void of any up-and-coming players.
