Steelers mock draft round 3: WR Jonathan Mingo

With the 80th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, I have the Pittsburgh Steelers going with Ole Miss wide receiver, Jonathan Mingo. This isn't a player that I have seen frequently mocked to Pittsburgh, but it's starting to make a lot more sense.

At nearly 6'2'' and 220 pounds, Mingo projects as a big slot receiver in the NFL, and it just so happens that the Steelers could use a player in that role. Pittsburgh went from JuJu Smith-Schuster in the slot to experimenting with Chase Claypool in that role.

While they do have undersized players like Calvin Austin III and Anthony Miller on the roster who can man the slot position, Pittsburgh could be looking for more size at the position, as George Pickens is the only notable receiver who stands above 6-feet.

Mingo has good ball skills and can stretch the seam from the slot. He also offers value on the outside if the Steelers were to suffer an injury at the position. His impressive traits could have him being selected before this point in the draft, but a pre-draft visit with Mingo shows that he will be on Pittsburgh's radar on day two.
