Steelers mock draft round 7: SAF Daniel Scott

While many believe the Pittsburgh Steelers could address the safety position much earlier than this in the NFL Draft, their interest suggests that they may not feel the need to do so as much as fans would like them to. That's why I don't have them dipping their toes in the position until Daniel Scott in the seventh round (one of the two safeties the team used a 30-visit on).

In the past, Alabama's Brian Branch was a player who was mocked to them quite often. However, now that the team has brought back Damontae Kazee and signed former first-rounder Keanu Neal in free agency, the need for a safety doesn't seem nearly as pressing. It's also worth noting that Pittsburgh still has players like Tre Norwood and Miles Killebrew under contract.

. Center. . Spencer Anderson. 7. . player. 439

Steelers mock draft round 7 (via MIN): C Spencer Anderson

Despite the additions to the interior offensive line over the past two offseasons, the Steelers have expressed a good deal of interest in taking a center in the NFL Draft. Pittsburgh has met with possible center converts like Cody Mauch and Steve Avlia as well as a true center prospect like Minnesota's John Michael Schmitz.

However, if they elect not to go this route on day two of the NFL Draft, they could still fill the need with one of their final picks. Maryland's Spencer Anderson would just be looking to crack the roster, and with J.C. Hassenauer recently signing with the Giants, this is at least a possibility.
