Mike Tomlin has a hand in the draft process, and he seemed to be infatuated with several players in Mobile.

Steelers mock draft round 3: Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan

One thing that Mike Tomlin insisted he was during Senior Bowl Week was the matchup between CB Quinyon Mitchell and Michigan WR Roman Wilson. This was a fun little battle between two of the best overall players in Mobile. Mitchell is going to be drafted higher of the two, but Wilson has some 'wow' moments during Senior Bowl practices and is going to be exciting in his own right.

If this were any other draft class, Wilson would likely be off the board long before Pittsburgh's pick in the third round (and that still could be the case in the 2024 NFL Draft). However, this draft class is absolutely loaded at the wide receiver position, and Wilson could fall as a result.

One thing that could potentially push him higher up the draft board is if he runs a blazing 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Wilson has been hand-timed as fast as 4.32, per NFLDraftScout. The issue for him is that there are so many great receivers in this draft that will go higher, and not every team is going to love that Wilson measured in at just over 5'10'' with a tiny 72 1/4'' wingspan.

The Steelers would be licking their chops at the chance to draft Roman Wilson in the third round. Allen Robinson II is going to be cut this offseason, and Diontae Johnson is entering a contract year. Wilson could immediately slot in as Pittsburgh's WR3 in 2024 and potentially step into a starting role in 2025 if Johnson hits free agency and doesn't return.
