Steelers round 6: Christian Jones, OT, Texas

With another 6th-round pick, the Steelers select Christian Jones, Offensive Tackle out of Texas. Jones is a developmental project with over 40 career starts. The Steelers address the crucial need for tackle depth behind Dan Moore and Broderick Jones by drafting a player experienced at both Left Tackle and Right Tackle positions.

Steelers are known for their love of versatile offensive linemen who can play multiple positions, the Steelers find this in Christian Jones a piece that adds valuable flexibility to their line.

If Pat Meyer can effectively develop Jones and if he makes the 40-man roster, he might serve as a potential candidate for the swing tackle role in heavy personnel or as injury insurance for the starting tackles. While the Steelers will likely address the tackle position earlier in the draft or through free agency, for now, they aim to leverage one more year of Dan Moore as a starter before his rookie deal concludes in 2025.
