Steelers most realistic mock draft: A sneak peak at a likely 2024 draft class
Pittsburgh has shown a couple of different cards from their deck heading toward the NFL Draft. We know they have shown a lot of interest in the trenches on both sides of the ball. They have also shown a good chunk of pre-draft interest in receivers and cornerbacks. It seems like they will try and attack those positions as early and often as possible.
Based on what we know through pre-draft meetings, visits, and pro-day interest, the Steelers will have these prospects on watch. If these players fall to them in any manner, then they will select them in the upcoming draft more likely than not. They were able to attack plenty of needs in this mock draft and make the fans happy for the most part.
Steelers mock draft round 1: Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia
This pick almost seems like a slam dunk nearly comparable to Najee Harris when he was coming out of the draft. The obvious connection between Mims and the Steelers is there. It would make a ton of sense for the black and gold to upgrade their right tackle spot early in the draft. Unless someone unexpectedly falls to them in the first round, expect Mims to likely be the pick.
Steelers mock draft round 2: Ricky Pearsall, WR, Florida
With Diontae Johnson off the roster, Pittsburgh has to get a solid outside receiver on day two. They have Ricky Pearsall available in round two and that's their selection here. He can play outside and inside at the next level and has some of the best catching ability out of any receivers coming out of the draft. The Steelers get a nice piece to play opposite George Pickens.
Steelers mock draft round 3: Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, C, Georgia
With center remaining a major need, the Steelers decide to gamble in this mock draft. They hold off till the third round to take a starting center. It worked in their favor in this mock draft as they landed a long-time starting center for Georgia, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger. They now have two-thirds of their starting offensive line as young former Bulldogs. The chemistry should still be there.
Steelers mock draft round 3: Max Melton, CB, Rutgers
With Donte Jackson in the fold, he could either play slot corner or outside cornerback depending on how the draft shakes out. The Steelers foresee him as an outside guy after taking Max Melton out of Rutgers. He is a tough kid coming out of college and someone who also provides versatility as a starter. He can play inside and outside, but he will start in the slot for Pittsburgh.
Steelers mock draft round 4: Trevin Wallace, LB, Kentucky
It could very well be a defensive lineman at this point in the draft, but Trevin Wallace fell to the Steeler's fourth-round selection. Previous fourth-round linebackers have not worked out for the Steelers in the recent past, but they hope to change that trend here. Wallace is an athletic freak who should have his best playing days at the next level.
Steelers mock draft round 6: Tahj Washington, WR, USC
We reach the sixth round in this mock draft and the Steelers decide to double-dip at receiver. They already got Ricky Pearsall on day two, but he will be their outside receiver opposite Pickens. Now they have decided to try and upgrade their slot receiver role by selecting Tahj Washington here. He is a shifty receiver who could also compete for some special teams' roles.
Steelers mock draft round 6: Khristian Boyd, DT, Northern Iowa
Not too many top NFL talents come out of Northern Iowa, but the Steelers have shown a lot of pre-draft interest in Khristian Boyd. He is a great athlete along the interior of the defensive line who could be a nice diamond in the rough. Boyd will likely go on day three and Pittsburgh gets a player who should be able to play a role on their defense this season.
