Both the Steelers and the 49ers come to a compromise to get this mock trade across the finish line.

After a couple of days of widespread speculation surrounding a trade involving star receiver Brandon Aiyuk, there has been nothing that crossed the finish line yet.

According to recent reports, the Steelers have re-engaged in trade talks with the 49ers, while the Patriots have dropped out of the race. Cleveland has an offer on the table, but it is rumored that Aiyuk does not want to go to the Browns.

Pittsburgh has the inside track here, and that could lead to a potential compromise between Pittsburgh and San Francisco.

Talks between Pittsburgh and the 49ers seem to have gone on for most of the day yesterday. We will see if an official trade can be ironed out over the next few days. It seems like a matter of when and not if when it comes to a deal getting across the finish line. This situation is at a breaking point where both the player and team want a resolution.

Adding Aiyuk to the Steelers would catapult their offense to new heights. Don't expect Omar Khan to completely fleece the 49ers as he has done in previous trades. It will still cost the black and gold a couple of assets to get this star player.

Since Aiyuk has a lot of leverage in a potential trade, it could make the asking price fall just a bit. Here's what the most realistic mock trade looks like.

Mock trade between Steelers and 49ers has them meet in the middle

Honestly, this would be a good trade for both sides if it became a reality.

Yes, the Steelers have to give up their second-round pick this year and a third in the following draft, but they get a star receiver in return. They also send James Daniels the other way, who is a quality starting guard who should help the 49ers increase their Super Bowl hopes. The second-round pick is conditional as it could increase to a first-round selection in 2025 if Pittsburgh wins a playoff game.

In return, the 49ers send Aiyuk to the Steelers with a conditional sixth-round pick attached. That condition is that if San Francisco misses the playoffs, then they will not have to send that draft pick to Pittsburgh after the season. A very tricky deal overall on both sides in this mock trade that could be a reason for the negotiations lasting this long.

It might not be an ideal scenario for the fans of the black and gold, but they will likely have to send a roster player the other direction to land Aiyuk with a couple of draft picks in tow. If Khan can get this deal done without having to pay this high of price, then he might be the best General manager in the game.

Aiyuk seems like he will get traded within the next couple of days, so have fun and hopefully, Khan can work some of his magic.
