Steelers should be watching Drew Sanders

While positional importance can be argued, linebacker is easily the Steelers biggest need in 2023. Their defense has lacked impact there for years, from the failed development of Devin Bush to the lackluster signings that haven’t stuck in the room. As of now, Mark Robinson is the only player that is locked into returning, and this group once again needs to be added to.

While not viewed as the top prospect at the position, I really think Drew Sanders fits the mold of what the Steelers need this season at linebacker. A transition player from the edge spot, Sanders quickly made his impact felt at Arkansas, as he established himself as a defensive force. He plays the run and rushes the passer hard, even if his coverage is still a work in progress.

Despite his bigger size, the expectation is for Sanders to test extremely well at the combine. If he does, he should lock himself into an early day two pick, if not even sneaking into the first round. With the need there and the draft capital to land him available, Sanders should be on a short list of linebackers to watch at the combine.
