The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for the busiest (and arguably most important) three-day stretch of the football calendar year. What they do in the 2023 NFL Draft could shape the direction of the team moving forward.
In the days leading up to the draft, Omar Khan has been proactive with moves that help Pittsburgh cover their bases. Over the past several days, they added wide receiver depth with an Allen Robinson trade and topped off the position by signing Miles Boykin (who will likely resume his role on special teams in 2023).
The latest Steelers news has Robinson sharing how much he has left in the tank for this team and a look at Bucky Brooks' final mock draft.
Steelers news:
Recently, Allen Robinson spoke with the media for the first time since becoming a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite struggling statistically over the past two seasons (2022 in Los Angeles and 2021 in Chicago), Robinson insists that he's nowhere near done with football. Here's what he had to say, per ESPN's Brooke Pryor:
""I feel like for myself, I have a lot of football left. I thought last year for the time that I was playing in those 10 games, I felt very good about some of the things that I did.""Allen Robinson via ESPN
Robinson went on to talk about his foot injury and notes that he feels 'very good' about the recovery process. The veteran receiver turns 30 years old in August and is looking for a chance to rebuild his reputation in Pittsburgh.
More Steelers news:
It is mostly quiet on the news front with the Pittsburgh Steelers as the hours draft. However, final mock drafts continue to rush in. On Tuesday, NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks released his final 2023 first-round mock draft. With Paris Johnson Jr. and Broderick Jones being taken with the 11th and 15th overall picks, respectively, Brooks has the Steelers going with Tennessee OT Darnell Wright.
Wright has been a name that is heating up in connection with the Steelers as of late, and Pittsburgh used one of their final pre-draft visits to bring him into the facility for a meeting. In this mock, Brooks has Joey Porter Jr. going one pick ahead of the Steelers with Maryland CB Deonte Banks being selected one pick after they are on the clock.
