As we move further away from the NFL Draft and past Steelers rookie minicamp, we are approaching the quietest stretch of the year for football fans. However, in his first offseason as general manager of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Omar Khan has kept us on our toes. There's no reason to expect that to stop just yet.

After loading up on free agents and landing an impressive haul in the draft, Khan might not be done just yet. The latest Steelers news has to do with Pittsburgh's visit with a former Pro Bowl linebacker and a former second-round wide receiver who just signed with a new team.

Steelers news:

Let's start with the latter. On Monday afternoon, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN announced that former Steelers wide receiver, James Washington, has found a new home with the New Orleans Saints. As a former second-round pick, Washington never really lived up to lofty expectations during his time in Pittsburgh. Washington suffered an injury last year that kept him out of all but two games.

After a quick and unsuccessful stint with the Cowboys, Washington is hoping for greener grass in New Orleans as he will likely be on the outside looking in at a roster spot. Washington led the Steelers in receiving yards back in 2019 when Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges were at the helm, but he wasn't able to leave a mark after a strong second season.

More Steelers news:

The big Steelers news that everyone is talking about right now has to do with a potential roster addition the front office is trying to make. On May 15th, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Pittsburgh is visiting with linebacker Kwon Alexander.

Alexander was a former Pro Bowler back in 2017. Despite some season-ending injuries, he has put together a productive NFL career. Alexander started 12 of 17 games with the New York Jets last season. Though he wasn't the player that we saw early in his career, he showed that he's still capable of carving out a role for an NFL team.

Pittsburgh signed linebackers Cole Holcomb and Elandon Roberts early in free agency while cutting ties with Myles Jack, Devin Bush, and Robert Spillane. If Kwon Alexander is signed, the Steelers' top three linebackers could look completely different than they did just last season.

NFL news:

In NFL news, CBS Sports' Tyler Sullivan confirms that former Falcons and Colts quarterback, Matt Ryan, is joining the CBS Sports crew as an NFL analyst. However, Ryan insists that he isn't retired from the NFL just yet. While he doesn't have a contract at the moment, Ryan could look for one more deal before starting his career as an analyst.
