After a quiet few months around the Pittsburgh Steelers organization since the end of the 2022 season, we received a whirlwind of news last week. In just a matter of hours, after the legal tampering period kicked off on March 13th, Omar Khan was already busy trying to improve the roster in his first offseason as the general manager.

Pittsburgh added a number of players who could contribute in a large capacity next year with players like OG Isaac Seumalo, CB Patrick Peterson, and LB Cole Holcomb. Meanwhile, they were able to retain some of their own.

Now Khan and assistant GM Andy Weidl could put their finishing touches on a strong free agent class in the coming weeks. Here's the latest Steelers news.

Steelers news:

The Steelers showed just how aggressive they are willing to be in free agency as they reportedly were in the running for top OT Orlando Brown Jr. Because of that, nothing should be too surprising at this point. Recently, NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky lobbied for Pittsburgh to sign former Pro Bowl WR and Super Bowl champion, Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham hasn't played an NFL game since the playoff run following the 2021 season, as an ACL tear forced him to rehab much of last year. Now he recently held a private workout and has declared that he's ready to go. Orlovsky believes that adding Beckham to the mix will help the Steelers have enough firepower to keep up with teams like the Chiefs and Bengals. As of now, the Steelers are not rumored to be interested in the former first-round pick.

More Steelers news:

In other Steelers news, Elandon Roberts held his first press conference since officially a two-year contract with Pittsburgh. Roberts is convinced that he is going to fit in very well in this defense and spoke praises of head coach Mike Tomlin. Here's what he had to say, according to Dale Lolley of Steelers.com:

""I've always admired coach Mike [Tomlin]. I told him at my pro day seven years ago, 'Come get me.' As soon as we talked, I told him, 'Man, it's been seven years, huh?' God has his time for everything. I'm just ecstatic to be part of the organization.""

Roberts very much seems like a 'Mike Tomlin' linebacker with his downhill style and relentless motor. He should give them an instant boost on running downs, and his game is in the mold of former Steelers linebacker, Vince Williams.

NFL news:

Over the past several weeks, Aaron Rodgers has been a major topic of discussion. A deal with the New York Jets for the future Hall of Fame quarterback seems inevitable, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has reported that the two sides are currently at a stalemate.

Rapoport said that the compensation the Packers are looking for isn't there yet. For Green Bay, there might not be a reason to rush. The only hard deadline is the 2023 NFL Draft, and we will see if the Packers and Jets have something worked out for a Rodgers trade by then.
