Steelers Nightmare Mock Draft: Pittsburgh leaves the draft worse than they arrived

If the Steelers left the NFL Draft with this class, those screaming to fire everyone and start over would have one heck of an argument.

Steelers mock draft Round 2: Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan

Selecting Roman Wilson with the 51st overall selection would be a bad pick, even if the Steelers wouldn't be selecting a bad player. True, whoever is starting at quarterback for Pittsburgh would like to have a player such as Wilson at their disposal. While taking Wilson might be a case of taking the best player available, wide receiver is one of the Steelers' best position groups and an upgrade isn't going to do the team any notable favors.

I did choose Wilson in part because the Steelers tend to snatch up a talented receiver in the second or third round when everyone least expects it. They've done it to great success and Wilson wouldn't be much different if he were indeed the choice.

However, selected right after the Steelers is yet again a player that would greatly improve the Steelers roster, Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper. To really grind it in, West Virginia center Zach Frazier goes to the Chargers on the very next pick after that.

Taking a luxury pick at a strong position like receiver while the linebacking corp was held together with scotch tape and a wish last year and a colossal need at center still exists would be a brutal decision.
