The Pittsburgh Steelers don't just have to deal with the humiliation of a blowout loss to the 49ers in Week 1; they have to find a way to move forward without two of their best players. During the loss, Diontae Johnson suffered a hamstring injury, Meanwhile, on the other side of the football, Cameron Heyward sustained a groin tear.
There's no question that each of these former Pro Bowl players is expected to miss time, that much is a given. How much time they miss could certainly impact this team moving forward in 2023.
Now the Steelers have a Week 2 matchup against the Cleveland Browns and they are looking for redemption. Pittsburgh made headlines for the wrong reasons in their season-opener and even 49ers OT made a backhanded comment about how he wished Pittsburgh's offense needed to pick up a first down so that he could get a longer break.
Mike Tomlin will certainly have his work cut out for him in Week 2. With Jim Schwartz now calling the shots on defense, this could be a much stronger Browns unit in 2023. Pittsburgh will also have to account for Nick Chubb and a dangerous rushing attack.
On the latest episode of the Still Curtain Podcast, Tommy Jaggi and Shayne Kubas talk about how to move forward following significant injuries to Diontae Johnson and Cameron Heyward, and detail which players need to step up in their absence. They also preview the Steelers vs. Browns game and give their predictions for Week 1.
