I probably get more excited than most for exhibition action, but the NFL preseason is a perfect time to scout the new draft class and undrafted free agents in action. In years past, the Pittsburgh Steelers have had some preseason standouts. Last year, Kenny Pickett and George Pickens had us on our feet for meaningless football action.

Though the games obviously don't count toward the team's record nor do they have any bearing on which teams will make the playoffs, the preseason allows young players to develop and gel with their teammates before the regular season begins.

Recently, the Pittsburgh Steelers released their official schedule for the 2023 regular season. In addition, they also shared their preseason schedule. Here's a look at the three games the Steelers will play this summer:

Steelers preseason schedule 2023:

  • Week 1: Steelers @ Buccaneers, August 11th, Time TBD
  • Week 2: Steelers vs Bills, August 19th, 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time
  • Week 3: Steelers @ Falcons, Date and Time TBD

Ever since the NFL moved to the 17-game schedule, each team plays one fewer preseason game (with the exception of the two teams who play the Hall of Fame game to kick off the preseason). The Steelers will have three exhibition games this year against the Buccaneers, Bills, and Falcons

Mike Tomlin's team will kick off their first performance of the summer down in Tampa Bay where they will face a Buccaneers team that just lost Tom Brady to retirement. The Steelers narrowly defeated the Bucs with a 20-18 win in Week 6 of the regular season last year.

Following the Bucs games, Pittsburgh will be back home at Acrisure Stadium to host the Bills for Preseason Week 2 on August 19th. They will wrap things up with their preseason finale in Atlanta (the date and time of the game will be released at a later date).

While Pittsburgh doesn't have nationally televised preseason games, you can catch all three of their contests if you live locally by tuning into KDKA-TV. If not, NFL Network shows every preseason game, though you may have to watch them as reruns if they choose to air another game in live time. We don't have their preseason TV schedule at this time.

The preseason is always a way to get fans pumped up for some hard-hitting regular season action. After crushing the NFL Draft, Pittsburgh Steelers have plenty of reasons to tune into the exhibition action this summer.
