It has been nearly 20 years since a Pittsburgh Steelers rookie last won the NFL’s Rookie of the Year award or the Offensive/Defensive Rookie of the Year awards from the Associated Press. So which of the rookies from the Steelers’ 2023 draft class has the best chance at winning the award and why?
Spencer Anderson and Broderick Jones
An offensive lineman has never won the Rookie of the Year award. Therefore, even if Broderick Jones locks down the starting left tackle position before Week 1, shows maturity well beyond his years, and becomes one of the best left tackles in franchise history, he will still be a longshot to take home the award.
The same goes for Spencer Anderson, and to an even greater degree, given that he was a late seventh-round pick. Therefore, giving these two players any further discussion for this award is pointless.
