John Mitchell has retired, which was just announced recently by the black and gold. The organization is running low on specific coaches that filled vital roles with this team last season. There will be plenty of big shoes to fill for the Steelers, but there are some interesting options out there to be hired.

Pittsburgh has become one of the worst organizations across the NFL to try and make employable coaches outside of the club in the past decade or so. That trend will hopefully end soon, but there needs to be some fresh ideas coming onto this team from outside the room. Sometimes outside hires can be a little concerning to some, but it seems like the Steelers could turn their philosophies around.

Karl Dunbar could be an interesting in-house hire for the Steelers

A boring route could be Mike Tomlin deciding to make an in-house promotion for the Assistant Head Coach role. Karl Dunbar has been in the Steel City for a significant chunk of time now and has earned the right to any promotion that might come his way. John Mitchell held the same coaching position before he stepped back, and Dunbar replaced him.

It would make a lot of sense as Dunbar is well respected in the organization, and it would be following a trend. Mitchell became the Assistant Head Coach, and perhaps it could be Dunbar's turn to get that promotion soon. Many will be waiving their fist in the air begging for an outside hire, but Dunbar would be a good bet for the open position.
