Steelers trade up for their draft crush in final first-round 2023 NFL mock draft
4 Indianapolis Colts: Will Levis, QB, Kentucky
This pick is where the real speculation begins. Do the Colts take Levis or Anthony Richardson? Honestly, this selection could go either way, but Levis seems to be the most likely contender for the Colts.
Do not expect him to be the Colts' savior in his first season, and he more than likely sits behind Garder Minshew or Nick Foles for the first few weeks. However, if Taylor Stays healthy and Levis has targets like Jelani Woods, Alec Pierce, and Michael Pittman, the Colts could be in contention in 2024
5 Seattle Seahawks: Jalen Carter, DL, Georgia
Jalen Carter's landing spot could be a bit of an enigma this season, and in every NFL draft, someone falls unexpectedly. Carter could be that guy due to his off-field problems. Otherwise, the Seahawks take a potentially huge defensive playmaker. Sure, they could take the remaining quarterback to put behind Geno Smith, but they won’t. They go with a player that helps the team overall.
6 Detroit Lions: Tyree Wilson, Edge, Texas Tech
This pick is not a lock for the Lions, but with Aidan Hutchinson in his second season, adding Wilson might not be a bad decision, and the Lions might start looking ferocious like a real lion. They could take Christian Gonzalez or Devon Witherspoon if they do not take Wilson here. Either way, look for the Lions to go defense again this season.
7 Las Vegas Raiders: Anthony Richardson QB Florida
This selection could be anything but orthodox. David Carr is gone, but they do have Jimmy Garoppolo. However, signing Garoppolo is like placing a bet on 12 the hard way in craps. If healthy, he pays out nicely. If injured, the Raiders could have the same problem San Francisco had last season. Essentially playing the final quarter of a playoff game without a quarterback. If they do not take Richardson, they could take any of the players above that might fall to them, or they make an unexpected draft selection.
