Providing a prediction of a future event is never an easy task. You choose poorly, and many assume you know nothing. You choose the right outcome and people move on to another thing to read. Picking games in the NFL has been tough during the early goings. Just when you think a matchup will go one way, it goes another direction. It wasn't easy this time either heading into Week 5.

Pittsburgh will be hosting the Dallas Cowboys in primetime after the Steelers suffered their first loss of the season. They will hope to bounce back, or the overreactions from this past week will only intensify. The black and gold must establish a good run game, or everything will be put on Justin Fields's shoulder to lead the Steelers to victory. There is a big opportunity in front of the home team in this one.

Even though the black and gold seemingly have the better roster heading into this game, Dallas has some star players. They are dealing with two key injuries on defense heading into this contest, so that should help the Steeler's cause. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb could be the ultimate game-changers in this game. Their success in this contest will directly affect if they win or lose this battle.

Still Curtain Expert panel predictions turn Steelers into a tailspin

"The Colts just showed how to beat the Steelers this season. While the Cowboys have had their own issues and a nonexistent run game, they are also healthier and coming off a mini-break. I think the Steelers drop two straight in a close game. Cowboys get the win." - Andrew Falce (Cowboys 24-20)

"Pittsburgh got their first wake-up call of the season after showing up flat against the Colts in Week 4. Mike Tomlin will do everything he can to ensure this doesn't happen again on Sunday Night Football in Week 5. Though the Cowboys will be without edge rushers Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence, the Steelers have critical injuries of their own and will march out a makeshift offensive line. Tomlin had no answer for Shane Steichen's offense in Week 4 and I think the defense will have a tough time defending Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb this week after the worst game of Joey Porter Jr.'s career." - Tommy Jaggi (Cowboys 23-20)

"Dallas is well rested after a struggle win against the Giants but will likely be without two top defensive players in Lawrence and Parsons in Week 5. The Steelers offense showed what it could do when things are opened up in the passing game and Fields should have even more confidence after nearly leading the comeback against Indianapolis last week. The offense should build off their momentum in the passing game and bounce back at home in primetime, beating Dallas." - Brandon Kring (Steelers 27-17)

"After a crushing defeat against the Colts, the Steelers look to bounce back at home against the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, things will not go our way. The Cowboys offense proves to be too much for the defense to handle." - Eric C Hassel (Cowboys 23-20)

"The Steelers defense is its most dangerous at home in primetime. Justin Fields has an opportunity to show a national audience that he is unquestionably the starting quarterback in Pittsburgh. With all of the injuries plaguing the Cowboys, the Steelers rebound at home." - Jacob Harrison (Steelers 24-20)

Final predictions has Steelers righting the ship vs. Cowboys

Score Prediction: Steelers 21, Cowboys 18

Things don't look good for the Steelers as a whole when you look at the Still Curtain panel of picks. One thing is certain, this should be a close game that comes down to the wire. There are plenty of different directions that this game can go, but the Steelers will be the underdogs. It is a far cry from what many experts had as their predictions for Pittsburgh around this time last week.

Expect Prescott and company to move the ball for most of the game. Pittsburgh's defense should provide a challenge and rebound from their last performance. Even though they might allow yardage, their biggest test will be when the field shortens. The Steelers defense needs to bend and not break in this game against Dallas. This prediction has the Cowboys settling for plenty of field goals.

Fields will try and hold onto his starting job, and he could cement it this week with a quality win in a primetime event. Najee Harris and the offensive line need to get the running game going against a battered front of the Cowboys defense. If Pittsburgh fails to take advantage of another poor defensive front this time around, then the offensive line should be ringing alarm bells.

Prescott and Lamb should still provide quality numbers when the day is over. Pittsburgh's linebackers will have to come to play to stop the run and slow down the passing game. If the Steelers can just not shoot themselves in the foot, then they have a good shot at winning this contest. It should be a tough battle, and one you better hope the Steelers win, or the complaints will go through the roof.
