The Steelers defense came up clutch to avoid an 0-2 start in prime time and that might be the case again this week against the Raiders on Sunday Night Football.
These teams are projected DEAD EVEN right now with the Raiders ever so slightly favored (-115 moneyline odds) at home with no spread listed.
Steelers vs Raiders Week 3 Opening Odds
It’s not hard to see why oddsmakers are having a difficult time picking a favorite in this game.
Both teams are 1-1 with one blowout loss and one close win and each has had suspect quarterback play so far this season.
If you’re leaning toward backing the Steelers here, I don’t blame you.
Pittsburgh should have the better defense and coaching in this game, and sometimes that’s all it takes against the non-elite NFL teams.
This might not be a slam-dunk win, either. Las Vegas has home-field advantage and hasn’t allowed Jimmy Garoppolo to get sacked yet this season.
But aside from that fun fact, the Raiders’ offense has been ROUGH.
Garoppolo has thrown for just 385 yards with 3 TDs to 3 INTs through two starts while the rushing attack has averaged an abysmal 2.6 yards per carry (including a 34-yard rush from receiver Tre Tucker!).
Pittsburgh’s offense hasn’t really been better than that, but Las Vegas is tied for the second-worst turnover differential in the NFL (-2.0) while the Steelers sit at T-11th with (+0.5).
That could be the difference in such an evenly matched game.
