Signing Jakobi Meyers gives the Steelers another young threat in the passing game
Meyers served as the Patriots' number-one receiving option in 2023 as a member of one of the worst offenses in the league. The former undrafted free agent posted back-to-back 800-yard seasons with the patriots and has improved year after year, making him one of the most coveted free-agent receivers in this year's class. Due to that, Meyers will likely be looking for a multi-year deal and a decent payday.
You could argue that the Steelers have way too many holes at other positions to consider using a premium draft pick on a wide receiver, and that is why Jakobi Meyers should be on their radar. Jakobi Meyers has proven to be an effective pass catcher in the NFL and would have less pressure as the Steelers' third receiver as opposed to his role in New England where he was their number one.
While Pittsburgh's track record of drafting receivers is commendable, it would be negligent to pass up an opportunity at solidifying this receiving core for the next several years. A receiving group consisting of Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, and Jakobi Meyers could prove to be one of the best in the league and give the Steelers' offense the ability to beat defenses in a plethora of ways.
